Refund Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
The short version
If this is your first paid subscription and Lexi has not been useful to you within 30 days of the payment, email hello@lexiapp.au and we will refund that payment in full. You do not need to justify it beyond telling us it was not useful.
This is a voluntary guarantee. It is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, not a substitute for them, and it does not limit them.
1. The 30-day guarantee
The guarantee applies where all of the following are true:
- The payment was for your first paid subscription to Lexi — any plan.
- You are within 30 calendar days of the date that payment was taken.
- You subscribed directly through Lexi. Purchases made through an app store or another reseller are refunded by that reseller under their policy, because we never received the payment.
Within those limits we refund the full amount of that payment, including any GST charged on it, to the original payment method.
2. How to request a refund
- Email hello@lexiapp.au from the address on the account, or use the contact form.
- Include the account email and, if you have it, the Stripe receipt number from the payment confirmation.
- We reply within 5 business days. You do not need to explain why you want the refund, though telling us what did not work is how the product improves.
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. Stripe typically takes 5 to 10 business days to return funds to your card, depending on your bank. We cannot speed that up and cannot refund to a different card.
3. What the guarantee does not cover
- Renewals. The guarantee applies to a first subscription only. A renewal of a subscription you have already had is not covered by it — cancel before the renewal date instead, which you can do at any time from account settings.
- Requests made after 30 days, for the voluntary guarantee. Your Australian Consumer Law rights are unaffected — see section 5.
- Accounts terminated for breach of the Terms of Service, including reselling access or circumventing usage limits.
- Third-party purchases, as described in section 1.
4. Cancelling instead of refunding
Cancelling and refunding are different things and it helps to know which one you want.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. There is no cancellation fee and no notice period.
- Cancelling does not automatically refund the current period. Unused time is not refunded pro rata, which is why the 30-day guarantee exists — it is the route to getting a payment back.
- Annual plans are treated the same way: the guarantee applies to the first annual payment within 30 days of it being taken; after that, cancelling stops the next year's renewal.
5. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, condition, warranty or right you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)), including under sections 60 and 61.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. If there is a major failure — for example, the service is not fit for a purpose we told you it would be fit for, or it is substantially unfit for a normal legal research purpose — you are entitled to a remedy regardless of the 30-day window. That may include a refund, and you may also be entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss.
If the failure is not major, you are entitled to have the problem fixed within a reasonable time, and if it is not fixed you may cancel and obtain a refund for the unused portion.
This policy is a voluntary addition to those rights. Where it and the Australian Consumer Law differ, the Australian Consumer Law applies.
6. Duplicate and incorrect charges
If you were charged twice for the same period, charged after cancelling, or charged an amount different from the price displayed, email us and we will correct it. These are our errors, not a discretionary refund, and they are fixed in full regardless of how much time has passed.
7. Chargebacks
Please contact us before asking your bank to reverse a charge. A chargeback takes weeks, freezes the account in the meantime, and is slower than the process above for a payment we would have refunded on request. Raising a chargeback does not affect your right to do so.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The version that applies to a payment is the one published when that payment was taken, and the date at the top of this page records when the text last changed.
